Some Kind of Nature brings together Ugo Schildge, Laura Benson, and Sunfish to explore how nature seeps into the built world—not just through materials, but through stories, symbols, and modes of making. The exhibition moves across object, ornament, and architecture, tracing a quiet rebellion against modernist purity in favor of the textured, the lived-in, and the feral.

Working at the intersection of design and painting, Sunfish produces hybrid forms—murals, furniture, and sculptural interventions—that blur function and fiction. Their playful surfaces and shaped silhouettes conjure a home that remembers the forest.

Laura Benson, drawing from her background in jewelry and folk craft, assembles soldered, antique-inflected works that echo domestic ritual and Southern storytelling—tactile odes to femininity and the mythic interior.

Ugo Schildge’s botanical reliefs reinterpret nature as pattern and imprint, layering vegetal motifs into structured compositions that sit between the ornamental and the sacred.

Together, their works occupy a charged in-between space—part habitat, part altar—where nature and narrative are not just housed, but held.
