IRL is excited to present a new series of landscape paintings by Brooklyn-based artist Chelsea Seltzer. In the tradition of the sublime landscape, Seltzer captures the epic beauty and overwhelming power of the land. Her expansive use of candy-colored palette seems to subvert the ‘natural’ beauty into one that accentuates a feeling of alien-otherness. These works are partially inspired by places where intense color and beauty is caused by pollution or toxic substances, like looking at the rainbows in an oil spill.
Theo A. Rosenblum lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. Recently he started working on functional sculptures, mainly in the form of chairs. For the booth at Future Fair, he presents a chair that appears to be made out of bubbles but is actually carved out of wood. From ephemeral, light, airy and diaphanous, the bubbles take on a solid, heavy, and more permanent form. The other 2 chairs are carved out of wood as well, in the shape of gravestones. As often in Rosenblum’s work, existential reflections on life and death do not prevent from being fun-spirited and playful.
